this is a typographic book: Dark Side of the Rainbow
The cinematic myth suggested that if one watched The Wizard of Oz while listening to Pink Floyd’s album, Dark Side of the Moon twice, the lyrics would match the movie’s narrative. I tried this experiment and found it to be successful. This brought me to question if the book version of Oz might also sync with the Pink Floyd Album. This book is therefore born from that beautiful coalition; I edited the book to match the narrative of the music. Each spread is a visual representation of that coalition, the larger, playful text is the name of the song one must listen to, while reading the body text which is directly from the book. Meant to be a typographic, visual experience, the songs dance around the book’s text to recreate the cinematic experience of the movie. It is the size of a record cover and when opened represents a film reel. This project is 40 different spreads that are meant to work individually but speak the same language of contrast and drama.
